2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1 1/4 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. softened butter
1 c. molasses
1 1/3 c. melted butter
1 c. water
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. hot water


Heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, all spice, salt and nutmeg and
set aside. In a large bowlbeat butter and sugar on medium until creamy; add egg and continue beating until
well mixed. Continue alternating flour mixture with molasses and water. Pour into a 13x9-in. pan and
sprinkle withbrown sugar. In medium bowl combine 1 1/2 c. water and melted butter and pour on top of
batter, bake for 40-55 minutes until top cracks. Serve hot with cool whip...YUMMY
