Spaghetti Bolognese
Serves 4
Ingredients
2 tbsp oil
1 lb (500 g) minced beef
1 onion, peeled and chopped
1 tin of tomatoes
4 oz (100 g) mushrooms, washed and sliced
2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1 carrot, grated
3 rashers of streaky bacon, cut into small pieces
1 glass of red wine (optional)
1 tbsp tomato purée
¾ pint (450 ml) beef stock
2 tsp oregano
Salt
Pepper
Put the oil into a large saucepan and heat. Add the onions
and garlic, and fry gently for 5 minutes, being careful
not to burn them. Add the minced beef and continue

frying for a further 10 minutes. Add the other
ingredients.
After your sauce has reduced, which takes around
20 minutes, serve with a pasta of your choice – it doesn’t
have to be spaghetti.
