Poached Peaches

1 tin of peach halves
½ oz (15 g) butter or margarine
201
2 tbsp brown or golden granulated sugar
1 tbsp brandy or whisky (optional)

Drain the syrup from the peaches, reserving a small
amount. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the peaches
with the syrup and sugar. Heat gently for about 5 minutes
then stir in the brandy.
If you have any flaked almonds or nuts, a few of these
toasted and sprinkled on top taste good.
